Chime Charity in Letterkenny Highlights Deaf Culture This Week

In Letterkenny, staff at Chime are actively participating in the International Week of Deaf People, which runs from September 22 to September 28, 2023. This global initiative aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the deaf community and promote the rich culture associated with it. In celebration of the International Day of Sign Languages, the team hosted an Irish Sign Language (ISL) coffee morning, creating an engaging platform to support and advocate for ISL as one of Ireland’s national languages.

The coffee morning provided an opportunity for staff members to connect, share experiences, and demonstrate their commitment to recognizing the contributions of the Deaf community. Visitors will have the opportunity to scan QR codes located at selected animal habitats, leading them to Zookeeper talks available in ISL on the Dublin Zoo website.
