Donegal Enterprise Awards Celebrate Local Business Innovation
The Donegal Enterprise Awards are set to take place on December 5, 2025, at Rockhill House in Letterkenny, honoring the resilience and creativity of the county’s small business sector. Organized by the Local Enterprise Office Donegal, the awards aim to recognize the achievements of local enterprises that have successfully navigated a year marked by challenges.
This year’s finalists represent a diverse array of sectors, showcasing both established companies and promising new ventures. Among the finalists is Kenbro Boats Ltd., the only manufacturer of HDPE workboats in Ireland, known for designing vessels capable of withstanding demanding marine environments. Another finalist, Donegal Sea Salt, is redefining sustainable salt production by hand-harvesting their product from Mulroy Bay using natural evaporation methods.
In addition, Ulster Mead Co. produces small-batch mead and herbal wines, blending traditional fermentation techniques with contemporary flavors. The innovative company inCharge Ltd. is transforming family care management with its secure and user-friendly digital solutions. Another noteworthy finalist is Hitch, a delivery platform aimed at reducing empty mileage by connecting goods needing transport with drivers already on the road.
Sustainability remains a core focus for The Loofah Bar, founded by Isobel Sangha. The company champions eco-friendly skincare products that combine natural soap with a compostable loofah. The global ambition of local businesses is exemplified by Niche Specialist Staffing Partners Ltd., which specializes in preconstruction and estimating recruitment for the U.S. construction sector.
Donegal’s rich heritage is represented through McDaid’s Football Special, a brand that has been blending nostalgia and local pride in soft drinks and ice cream since the 1940s. Family-run Atlantic Marine Supplies has led the way in marine safety solutions for over 40 years, providing equipment to the global market.
Last year’s award winner, Seabound, not only claimed the title of Donegal Enterprise of the Year but also received the Best Export Award at the National Enterprise Awards 2025, marking a significant achievement for the region.
Ahead of the ceremony, Brenda Hegarty, Head of Enterprise Donegal, expressed excitement about the event. She stated, “Each year, the Donegal Enterprise Awards showcase the creativity and determination of our entrepreneurs, who continue to put Donegal on the map both at home and abroad. Our ten finalists this year exemplify the innovation, resilience, and ambition of the county’s small business community, highlighting Donegal as a thriving hub for enterprise.”
At the awards, Malachi Eastwood will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for his work with Gartan Technologies, which provides workforce management solutions trusted by over 50 emergency service organizations worldwide. His contributions have enhanced operational efficiency and support for first responders, particularly following Gartan’s recent acquisition by Totalmobile.
The event will be hosted by Ciara Doherty, who expressed her enthusiasm for returning to Donegal for another round of awards. She noted the exceptional standard of nominees this year and looks forward to celebrating their accomplishments.
