Dublin’s The Laurels Wins National Pub of the Year Award
Clondalkin’s beloved pub, The Laurels, achieved a significant milestone by being named the National Pub of the Year at the 2025 Irish Pub Awards. The accolade was presented during a ceremony held at the Mansion House on November 12, 2025. In a remarkable showing, The Laurels also secured the title of Best Local Pub, further cementing its reputation as a hallmark of Irish hospitality.
The Laurels has long been a staple of the Clondalkin community, known for its welcoming atmosphere, hearty cuisine, and vibrant social scene. Under the stewardship of owner Louis Fitzgerald and General Manager Damien Long, the establishment has cultivated a dedicated customer base and is recognized for its community engagement efforts.
Community Impact and Charitable Endeavours
A key aspect of The Laurels’ appeal is its commitment to giving back to the community. The pub’s popular Laurels Cycle Crew has raised nearly €1.4 million for various charities through events like the Santa Cycle and the Galway to Dublin Cycle. These efforts highlight the pub’s dedication not only to its patrons but also to those in need.
The pub’s recent accolades follow an impressive year that also saw it awarded Local Bar of the Year at the esteemed Bar of the Year Awards earlier in 2025. This recognition adds to the establishment’s growing reputation in the competitive landscape of Irish pubs.
Dining and Entertainment Experience
Inside, The Laurels maintains a fresh and dynamic menu featuring locally sourced dishes. Patrons can enjoy weekly specials such as Steak Nights and Family Friday meal deals, alongside a cocktail menu that offers global flavors. The establishment is also a hub for entertainment, hosting live music every weekend, screening major sporting events, and organizing seasonal festivities that draw large crowds.
Additionally, The Laurels embraces its role within the community by regularly hosting various groups. Events include craft fairs, afternoon teas for senior citizens, and outings for its long-standing Golf Society, showcasing its commitment to fostering community spirit.
In response to the double win, Louis Fitzgerald expressed his joy and gratitude, stating that the recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Damien Long and his team. “This is the top honour in our industry and a huge credit to Damien and his fantastic team,” Fitzgerald commented. “Their passion, hard work, and genuine care for customers shine through in everything they do. We couldn’t be prouder and look forward to celebrating with our loyal customers in the weeks and months ahead.”
The Laurels continues to set a standard in the hospitality industry, blending quality service and community involvement. Its recent recognitions underscore not only its popularity but also its significant role in the cultural fabric of Clondalkin and beyond.
