Salthill House in Mountcharles, County Donegal, is hosting a landscape painting workshop on October 4, 2024. This event, organized in collaboration with the Historic Houses of Ireland and the National Built Heritage Service, promises a day of artistic exploration and creativity.

Renowned artist and educator Sinéad Smyth, a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland, will lead the workshop. Smyth is known for her abstract seascape and landscape oil paintings, and she brings her expertise from her studio on the Inishowen Peninsula. Participants will have the opportunity to paint outdoors in the beautiful walled garden of Salthill House, surrounded by its stunning landscape.

The workshop will commence at 10:30 and run until 16:00. Attendees can expect an engaging experience that begins with a demonstration of fundamental techniques including colour mixing, composition, and using shapes for perspective. Sinéad will encourage participants to draw inspiration from the picturesque scenery of Salthill as they create their own masterpieces.

All necessary materials, such as paints and canvasses, will be provided. However, participants are advised to bring their own easels to ensure a comfortable painting experience. Additionally, tea and coffee will be available upon arrival, and a light lunch will be served.

The workshop is limited to 20 participants, with tickets priced at €70 per person. This intimate setting allows for personalized instruction and a more fulfilling creative process.

Those interested in participating can book their spots through the official Historic Houses of Ireland website. This workshop not only presents an opportunity to enhance artistic skills but also allows attendees to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Donegal.

For art enthusiasts and novices alike, this workshop at Salthill House offers a unique chance to connect with nature and unleash creativity in a historic setting. Don’t miss out on the chance to paint your next masterpiece in such inspiring surroundings.
