Irish Drivers Reveal 2025’s Most Wanted Cars and Brands

Data from Carzone.ie, Ireland’s leading online car marketplace, has unveiled the most desired car makes and models among Irish drivers for 2025. As consumer preferences evolve, the search trends highlight a strong inclination towards European brands, with BMW emerging as the most searched make this year.
Volkswagen, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz follow closely behind in the popularity rankings. The Volkswagen Golf continues to be the most sought-after model, indicating its enduring appeal in the automotive market.
Shift Towards Japanese Brands
While interest in European vehicles remains robust, new registration data for 2025 indicates a growing enthusiasm for Japanese brands, particularly among electric vehicle buyers. Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show that Toyota has become the most registered brand in Ireland this year, closely followed by Volkswagen.
Hyundai is also gaining traction, ranking as the third most registered make with 7,641 new registrations, representing an 8.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The Hyundai Tucson has emerged as the most registered new model, with the Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Yaris Cross also making significant gains in registrations.
Trends in Car Preferences
In terms of car aesthetics, Carzone.ie’s data reveals that black is the most in-demand car colour, with interest in black vehicles being more than double that of white cars. Grey completes the top three, underscoring a preference for monochrome designs among Irish consumers.
Martin O’Neill from Carzone.ie commented on the importance of understanding current market trends. He stated, “For those keen to sell their car, knowing the makes and models people are currently searching for helps you craft a compelling listing and secure strong value.” O’Neill emphasized that aligning with Ireland’s wishlist can streamline the private sale process.
For those looking to sell, Carzone offers a Free Car Valuation Tool, providing an approximate market value of vehicles to assist in setting competitive prices.
As car preferences shift, the data from Carzone.ie offers valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the Irish automotive market in 2025. The continued dominance of certain brands, alongside the rising interest in electric and Japanese vehicles, points to a dynamic year ahead for car buyers and sellers alike.
