St Vincent’s Castleknock College Welcomes First Female Principal

St Vincent’s Castleknock College has appointed its first female principal, a significant milestone in the institution’s 190-year history. Elaine Kelly, a native of Clontarf, brings extensive experience from various educational environments, including both single-sex and co-educational settings within the DEIS, voluntary, and fee-paying sectors. She will lead the all-boys secondary school, marking a historic shift in the leadership of the college.
“I am very honoured to be the first female principal of a school that has given so much to its community and its students—past and present,” Ms Kelly stated. She acknowledged the importance of this appointment by the school’s Board of Management, expressing her privilege in working alongside a dedicated team of over 100 teachers and staff. Kelly emphasized her excitement to engage with the vibrant daily life of the students, calling Castleknock College a “very special place.”
Fostering a Holistic Learning Environment
In her new role, Elaine Kelly aims to create a dynamic learning community that reflects the school’s Christian, Catholic, and Vincentian values. Her leadership philosophy revolves around a holistic approach to education, which prioritizes the intellectual, academic, physical, spiritual, moral, and emotional growth of students. This approach will be implemented within the college’s expansive 70-acre campus and its historic parkland.
Ms Kelly’s professional background includes roles in diverse educational contexts.
