Westport Builder Chris Moran Finalist in Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025

Chris Moran, a builder from Westport, Co. Mayo, has advanced to the finals of the Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025 competition. With a commendable 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Moran aims to showcase his skills and passion at the final event scheduled for September 26, 2025. Competing against nine other outstanding tradespeople, he intends to demonstrate why he deserves the title.
Having worked in various facets of construction, Moran is a qualified civil engineer who co-founded Moran Bros. Builders in 2016 alongside his brother. The company has grown significantly and now employs a dedicated team of 30 individuals. Moran is particularly passionate about addressing the skills shortage in Ireland’s construction sector. He has actively recruited apprentices, many of whom have continued their careers with his business after qualification.
If he wins the Screwfix Top Tradesperson title, Moran plans to leverage his platform to inspire more young people in Ireland to consider careers in the trades. He expressed his excitement about reaching the finals, stating, “I can’t believe I have secured a place in the final of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025. Since I started in the industry 25 years ago, I’ve worked hard to hone my craft, so to be recognised and able to share my story with the judges is something I’m really excited about.”
The final event will take place at Screwfix Live, where each finalist will present their qualifications to a panel of industry experts. This panel includes the reigning Screwfix Top Tradesperson, Mohammed Rahman, as well as representatives from CIPHE and NICEIC. The winner will not only earn the prestigious title but will also receive a prize bundle valued at €20,000, which includes tools, technology, and training.
Jack Wallace, Marketing Director at Screwfix, commented on the talent among the finalists, stating, “We now have our final ten, and as ever the standard is exceptional. Tradespeople are the backbone of their communities, providing essential services with unmatched skill and dedication. Screwfix Top Tradesperson shines a spotlight on the outstanding talent within the industry and the impact tradespeople have.”
Moran’s journey reflects the dedication and hard work that many builders and tradespeople embody. He is proud to represent Co. Mayo and all builders in his pursuit of the title. The competition not only highlights individual achievements but also emphasizes the critical role that skilled tradespeople play in society.
