Adam Idah Faces Pressure to Score as Celtic Prepares for Kazakhstan Clash

Adam Idah is under pressure to find his scoring form as Celtic prepares for a crucial match against Kairat Almaty in the Champions League play-off. Despite the forward’s previous success, including scoring 20 goals last season, he has struggled to find the net in his first three matches of the new campaign. During a recent match against Kairat Almaty, Idah was substituted after a lackluster performance, contributing to a frustrating goalless draw for the team.
Celtic’s head coach, Brendan Rodgers, made tactical changes during the match, bringing on Yang and shifting Daizen Maeda to a central role to increase the team’s intensity. Despite these adjustments, Celtic could not secure the vital goal that would have set them up for a £40 million league phase opportunity. With the next match against Livingston looming, Idah is eager to score and regain his confidence before the team embarks on a challenging 10-hour journey to Kazakhstan.
Celtic’s captain, Callum McGregor, expressed his belief that Idah’s scoring drought is temporary. “I think everybody looks at strikers and they think they need a goal,” McGregor said. He emphasized the importance of the team collectively supporting Idah to create goal-scoring opportunities. McGregor noted that while it is crucial for strikers to score, the entire team must function effectively to facilitate those chances.
As the match against Kairat Almaty approaches, tensions are rising among the Celtic supporters, who voiced their frustrations with chants of “Sack the Board” during the recent match. This dissatisfaction was directed at the club’s management following a disappointing transfer window that left Rodgers without the desired player acquisitions. In light of the mounting pressure, McGregor called for unity among players and fans, stating, “The strength of this club has been when we’re together.”
Celtic’s upcoming match represents a significant challenge as the team aims to become the first Scottish club to win on Kazakh soil. McGregor acknowledged the importance of the upcoming fixture, saying, “It’s a big test, and that’s it. When you play at this club, you have to be ready for the big test.” He highlighted the need for the players to focus on their performance and not be swayed by external criticism.
The team’s journey to Kazakhstan will cover approximately 3,500 miles, adding to the logistical challenges they face. Despite this, McGregor maintains that the players must be ready to deliver a strong performance. “There’s now no excuse,” he asserted. “We have to win the game, and if we don’t, then it’ll be on us.”
With Idah looking to break his scoring drought and the team seeking to improve their performance, Celtic’s match against Kairat Almaty is poised to be a defining moment in their Champions League campaign.
