Arsenal Women Confirm ACL Injury for Defender Katie Reid
Arsenal Women have confirmed that defender Katie Reid has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a training session. The club announced that the 19-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days, and she is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
In a statement, Arsenal expressed their support for Reid, stating, “The club can confirm that Katie Reid has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury during a recent training session. Katie is being closely supported by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre, and everyone at Arsenal looks forward to seeing her return to action as soon as possible.”
Reid had made a significant impact in her six appearances in the Women’s Super League this season, culminating in her first call-up to the England squad in October. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw from that squad due to her injury, preventing her from making her senior debut.
Impact on Arsenal’s Squad
This injury marks another setback for Arsenal, who are already grappling with ACL issues within their squad. Michelle Agyemang sustained a similar injury while playing for England against Australia, adding to the team’s challenges. Additionally, goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger is also unavailable due to an ACL injury.
The club’s injury woes come at a crucial time as they aim to maintain momentum in the league. With Reid’s contributions recognized, her absence is sure to be felt both on and off the pitch. Arsenal will need to adapt quickly as they navigate the remainder of the season without key players.
The club’s medical team is committed to ensuring that Reid receives the best possible care during her recovery. As the focus shifts to rehabilitation, many will be eagerly awaiting her return to action.
