The Chicago Bears secured a decisive victory over the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, with a score of 24-15 on Black Friday. This win marks the Bears’ fifth consecutive victory, elevating their record to 9-3 and solidifying their position at the top of the NFC North division, ahead of the Green Bay Packers, who hold an 8-3-1 record. The Bears are set to face the Packers on December 7.

Strong performances from both D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai propelled the Bears’ offense, as they combined for a remarkable 255 rushing yards. Quarterback Caleb Williams contributed 154 passing yards and one touchdown, despite throwing one interception. The Bears never trailed during the game, delivering a statement win that addresses previous criticisms regarding their success against teams with losing records.

Swift initiated the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run, giving the Bears an early 7-0 lead. Monangai later added a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 17-9. Williams connected with Cole Kmet for a 28-yard scoring pass, further widening the gap to 24-9 with just over six minutes remaining.

The Eagles struggled offensively, with quarterback Jalen Hurts managing to connect with wide receiver A.J. Brown for two touchdowns. However, their comeback was hindered when Brown’s second touchdown, a four-yard catch, brought the score to 24-15 with only 3:10 left in the game. The Eagles failed to convert a critical two-point conversion attempt that could have brought them closer.

This defeat marks the Eagles’ second consecutive loss. They recently experienced a heart-wrenching defeat against their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, after squandering a 21-0 lead. In Friday’s game, they were trailing by just one point at 10-9 late in the third quarter when Hurts fumbled during a play that is typically a strength for the Eagles. Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright stripped the ball from Hurts, setting the stage for a 92-yard drive that culminated in Monangai’s touchdown.

The Bears’ defense played a crucial role in the victory, limiting the Eagles to just 87 rushing yards, with star running back Saquon Barkley contributing only 56 yards. The combination of a robust offense and a formidable defense has put the Bears in a strong position as they look ahead to their upcoming match against the Packers.
