The Philadelphia Eagles faced intense criticism from their fans following a disappointing 24-15 defeat to the Chicago Bears during the NFL’s Black Friday game at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions, struggled to find their rhythm, leading to a wave of boos from the home crowd. As the Bears extended their lead with a touchdown from Caleb Williams to Cole Kmet with six minutes left, many fans chose to leave the stadium early.

The Eagles’ offense, under the direction of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, was unable to capitalize on key opportunities. Notably, a turnover occurred during a critical moment in the second half when the Eagles lost possession after a fumble during a “tush-push” attempt, despite having intercepted Williams earlier in the game. The Bears outperformed the Eagles significantly, recording 425 yards compared to Philadelphia’s 317 yards. Chicago executed 85 plays to the Eagles’ 51, achieving 28 first downs against Philadelphia’s 14.

Chicago’s Ground Attack Shines

The Bears’ success was largely attributed to their robust ground game, spearheaded by Kyle Monongai, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Additionally, D’Andre Swift contributed significantly, amassing 125 yards on 18 carries and scoring in the first quarter. The victory marks Chicago’s ninth win in their last ten games, elevating their record to 9-3 and positioning them at the top of the NFC North. The Eagles, meanwhile, dropped to 8-4 following their second consecutive loss, having previously squandered a 21-point lead against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles’ struggles were evident from the outset, as the crowd quickly voiced their dissatisfaction. At halftime, the Bears had dominated with 222 yards to the Eagles’ 83 yards, while also controlling the clock with 21 minutes of possession compared to Philadelphia’s 9 minutes. The Bears’ defense, led by Vic Fangio, stifled the Eagles, limiting their effectiveness and forcing critical mistakes.

Key Moments Define the Match

The Eagles briefly hinted at a potential comeback when quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with wide receiver A.J. Brown for a 33-yard touchdown. However, a missed extra point by Jake Elliott left the Eagles trailing 10-9 and unable to regain momentum. Shortly after, Jaylx Hunt intercepted a pass from Williams, further frustrating the Eagles’ offense.

The Bears capitalized on their possessions, with Monongai scoring a four-yard touchdown after a lengthy drive. This extended the Bears’ lead to 17-9. The game took a turn for the worse for the Eagles as the Bears scored again through Kmet, resulting in a 24-9 lead that prompted many fans to exit the stadium prematurely.

In a last-ditch effort, Hurts connected with Brown for another touchdown, but the Eagles could not convert a two-point attempt, leaving the score at 24-15 and sealing their fate.

The Eagles will look to regroup as they prepare for their next matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14, while the Bears will head to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.
