Envoi Allen Claims Historic Third Victory in Champion Chase
Envoi Allen has made history by securing a record third victory in the BetVictor Champion Chase at Down Royal. The 11-year-old horse outperformed fellow dual winners such as Beef Or Salmon, Kauto Star, and Road To Respect, showcasing his enduring class and resilience as he fended off all challengers in this prestigious Grade One race.
Trained by Henry de Bromhead and ridden by jockey Darragh O’Keeffe, Envoi Allen started the race as an 11-4 chance, with Found A Fifty entering as the 2-1 favourite. The competition appeared fierce, particularly as Galway Plate winner Western Fold set the pace early on, joined by Affordale Fury.
As the race unfolded, Envoi Allen gradually moved into contention, taking the lead at the third-last obstacle. He began to assert his dominance following the penultimate fence, demonstrating impressive control as he approached the final stretch. With a strong finish, Envoi Allen crossed the line, securing victory by a margin of three and three-quarter lengths over Affordale Fury.
This victory marks Envoi Allen’s third win in the Champion Chase, following successes in 2022 and 2024. It also represents the horse’s tenth Grade One victory throughout his career, further solidifying his status in the racing world.
The achievement not only highlights Envoi Allen’s exceptional talent but also underscores the dedication of his connections, including trainer Henry de Bromhead. This milestone victory continues to enhance the horse’s legacy in the sport, setting a high standard for future competitors.
