Eternal Solace Aims to Overcome Penalty at Lingfield

On Tuesday, Lingfield hosts an exciting day of horse racing, featuring several notable contenders. Among them, Eternal Solace, trained by Ollie Sangster, seeks to overcome a penalty in the 2:30 PM Fillies’ Novice Stakes. After a stellar debut at Brighton in April, where she triumphed over the heavily backed Dapper Charm, who has since also won, Eternal Solace has not raced since her second outing in the Listed Marygate Fillies’ Stakes.
Despite her absence and the penalty she carries, the form of her previous races suggests she remains a formidable competitor. The booking of top jockey Oisin Murphy further indicates that she is prepared for this challenge. Her main rival, Zighy, trained by George Boughey, also comes into this race with strong credentials, having finished in the top three in all three of her previous starts.
Sturlasson Looks for Second UK Win
The 5:40 PM At The Races App Handicap features Sturlasson, an Irish import trained by John Ryan, who aims for consecutive victories since joining his new yard. Previously trained by Kieran Cotter, the four-year-old gelding had shown limited success in Ireland with only two wins from 17 races before his transfer. However, he made an impressive UK debut at Southwell, where he overcame challenges during the race to secure a comfortable victory.
Following that performance, Sturlasson has been assigned an eight-pound penalty, but his recent form suggests he could deliver another strong performance. Competing against him are Lightning Bear and Gold Star Hero, both of whom have consistently performed well on turf. Gold Star Hero notably secured a remarkable win at Yarmouth in his last outing.
Kilkenny Warrior Eyes Impressive Win
In the 3:00 PM race, Kilkenny Warrior will look to defy a nine-pound increase in the weights in the 0-70 Arc All-Weather £1 Million Bonus Is Back Nursery Handicap. Trained by Richard Hughes, she recently achieved her first victory at Southwell, displaying an impressive turn of speed in the final furlong. Given her recent success, the added distance in today’s race should suit her well.
Top-weighted Marwaan, despite a recent poor performance, could bounce back with a drop in trip and the assistance of jockey Jack Callan. Additionally, Uncertainty has been campaigned aggressively for a maiden, suggesting she might yet show improvement.
The day’s racing at Lingfield will also include the 6:00 PM EBF Maiden Stakes, where Capitalisation, purchased for £260,000 in April, looks to finally secure his first win after several commendable performances. Jamie Spencer will be piloting Starmade, adding intrigue to the lineup.
Lastly, the 8:00 PM Joan Coote Memorial Handicap features Lord Abama, who has previously won at the course. He will once again partner with jockey Rhys Elliott and hope to rebound from a lackluster recent performance.
Fans can catch all the live action from Lingfield and Newcastle on Sky Sports Racing, ensuring they stay updated with the latest developments in the world of horse racing.
