Everton Negotiates for Dewsbury-Hall After Dibling Bid Rejected

Everton is actively pursuing a transfer for midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea after their second bid for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling was rejected. The club is focused on strengthening their squad as they prepare for the upcoming season, with Everton manager David Moyes indicating that a new No. 8 and a defensive midfielder are top priorities.
Dewsbury-Hall, who joined Chelsea last summer, had a standout season with Leicester during their Championship-winning campaign. He made a total of 36 appearances, although he started only two matches in the Premier League, suggesting potential for a more significant role elsewhere.
Everton’s recent offer for Dibling was reported to be around £35 million with an additional £8 million in performance-related add-ons. This bid marks a considerable increase from their initial offer of approximately £27 million. Earlier in the year, Southampton stated they would consider selling the 19-year-old for £100 million, but their current valuation is believed to be closer to £45 million.
Transfer Strategy and Challenges
As the negotiations unfold, the likelihood of Everton making another bid for Dibling remains uncertain. The club is also considering other options, including Lyon’s Malick Fofana, as they look to bolster their attacking options. Dibling has two years left on his contract at St Mary’s, and interest in him has been noted from several clubs, including Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham, and RB Leipzig.
Moyes voiced concerns about his squad’s readiness for the new season, stating, “We’re not ready to perform well enough in this tournament (Premier League Summer Series). We knew before we came [to the US] we were going to be really up against it.” After a recent 2-2 draw with Manchester United in the Summer Series, he expressed optimism about potential deals: “I think there will be deals next week; we’re getting much closer.”
The manager acknowledged the necessity for several additions to the squad, emphasizing that the club needs to quickly finalize signings to enhance their competitive edge. He noted, “We have people in the squad where we’d maybe like to put them out on loan or do other things with them.”
Future Prospects and Broadcast Changes
As Everton navigates its transfer strategy, the club remains focused on addressing its immediate needs. The upcoming Premier League season will also see significant changes in broadcasting, with Sky Sports set to increase its coverage from 128 to at least 215 live matches. This move aims to provide fans with even more access to the league, with approximately 80 percent of all televised games available on Sky Sports next season.
As the transfer window progresses, Everton supporters will be eager to see how the club’s efforts materialize, particularly in securing key signings that can enhance the team’s performance as they aim for success in the forthcoming season.
