Galway Dominates at 2025 Camogie and Ladies Football All-Stars

The 2025 PwC Camogie and Ladies Football All-Star awards celebrated outstanding achievements in women’s sports, with the All-Ireland champions, Galway, emerging as the standout team. Held at Croke Park on Saturday night, Galway secured a remarkable eight individual awards, including the prestigious PwC GPA Player of the Year, awarded to Aoife Donohue, and the PwC Manager of the Year, Cathal Murray.

The event highlighted the fierce competition between Galway and Cork, as they were the primary teams recognized during the ceremony. A total of thirteen out of the fifteen All-Stars awarded were shared between these two teams, following their thrilling All-Ireland final. Cork, aiming for a historic three-in-a-row championship, had five of their players named on the All-Star team, showcasing their resilience and talent.

Galway’s goalkeeper, Sarah Healy, earned a place on the All-Star team, while her teammate Dervla Higgins received her second All-Star award. Shauna Healy, who made an impressive return after childbirth, collected her fifth All-Star. Other notable Galwegians included Ailish O’Reilly, who received her sixth award, and Niamh Mallon, earning her second. Ciara Hickey was also recognized for the first time, being named at centre-back.

The Cork contingent included Ashling Thompson, selected for the fifth time, joining Donohue in the midfield. Other All-Star recipients from Cork were Libby Coppinger, Laura Hayes, and Amy O’Connor, further solidifying their team’s strong presence in the awards.

In addition to the Camogie accolades, Hannah Tyrrell from Dublin was awarded the 2025 TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year at the Bonnington Dublin Hotel. The 35-year-old star, who announced her retirement from inter-county football after a successful All-Ireland Senior Championship campaign where she scored 6-28, also received her third TG4 All-Star award, adding to her previous wins in 2021 and 2023.
