Limerick Appoints David Deady as Senior Camogie Manager for 2026
Limerick camogie officials announced the appointment of a new senior county manager, confirming that David Deady will take on the role for the 2026 season. The decision was made during a meeting of the Limerick Camogie Board on the evening of Friday, October 13, 2023. Deady, a notable figure in the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) community, has previously served as the junior camogie manager and has strong ties to the sport through his involvement with Granagh-Ballingarry Camogie Club.
Deady steps into the senior management position following the departure of Joe Quaid, who resigned from the role in September after two years of leadership. The transition marks a new chapter for Limerick camogie, as Deady will also assume the responsibilities of U23 manager, indicating a strategic approach to nurturing young talent within the sport.
Management Team and Structure
Deady’s management structure includes a diverse and experienced coaching team. Brian Leahy will serve as the lead coach, supported by Alan Kelly and Caitríona De Bhail as additional coaches. The strength and conditioning program will be overseen by Darragh Murphy, ensuring that players are physically prepared for the demands of the season.
The goalkeeping department will be led by Paul Hogan, while the medical team is set to be directed by Dr. Cathal O’Donnell. He will be joined by Kevin Murphy and Claudia Daly, who will provide essential medical support throughout the season. Dave O’Shea will manage performance analysis, contributing valuable insights into player and team development. Additionally, Mary Kennedy will handle kit and logistics, ensuring that the team is well-equipped for their matches.
This comprehensive management team reflects Limerick’s commitment to strengthening its camogie program. With a focus on both senior and junior levels, the organization aims to build a robust foundation for future success in the sport. The combination of experienced coaches and medical professionals will play a crucial role in the team’s performance as they prepare for the upcoming season.
As Limerick camogie embarks on this new journey under David Deady’s leadership, the community and supporters will be keenly watching how the team evolves and competes in the 2026 season. The appointment signals a proactive approach to developing talent and fostering a strong competitive spirit within the county.
