Liverpool Accept €75 Million Bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz

Liverpool Football Club has reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of forward Luis Diaz for a fee of €75 million. The deal follows Bayern’s renewed interest after an initial offer of €67.5 million was rejected last week. This significant transfer marks a key moment in the summer transfer window as both clubs continue to reshape their squads.
Currently on their pre-season tour in Asia, Liverpool arrived in Tokyo on Sunday, where Diaz was still with the team. However, he has now been granted permission to leave for Germany to finalize the terms of the move. Diaz, who is 28 years old and has two years remaining on his contract, is being sold at what Liverpool considers to be his market value.
Since joining Liverpool in January 2022, Diaz has made a notable impact, appearing in 50 matches across all competitions last season and scoring 17 goals. His contributions were instrumental in Liverpool securing the Premier League title, along with victories in the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
As speculation surrounding Diaz’s future escalated, he was notably absent during Liverpool’s 4-2 friendly defeat against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday. Following the match, head coach Arne Slot commented on the situation, acknowledging the rumors and stating, “In Lucho’s (Diaz’s) situation, there are a lot of rumors around him lately and I cannot go into that. He’s training really well with us but we have decided for now not to play him yet.”
Liverpool has been active in the transfer market this summer, strengthening their attacking options with the signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Wirtz made his first start as a false nine during the match against AC Milan. Additionally, the club has welcomed Jeremie Frimpong, left-back Milos Kerkez, and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, all of whom featured in the second half of the same friendly.
As Liverpool continues to enhance their squad, the departure of Diaz marks a significant shift, potentially altering the dynamics of their attacking lineup. The announcement of the deal with Bayern Munich is expected to be formalized in the coming days, with fans and analysts alike keenly observing the implications of this high-profile transfer.
