London City Lionesses Sign Grace Geyoro in Record £1.43m Deal

Grace Geyoro has officially joined the London City Lionesses from Paris Saint-Germain in a landmark deal valued at £1.43 million (approximately $1.65 million). This transfer marks a new world record for a women’s player, although it may soon be contested depending on the fulfillment of bonuses associated with the Alyssa Thompson deal from Angel City to Chelsea, which could rise to just under £1.5 million.
The transfer reflects PSG’s initial reluctance to part ways with Geyoro, who has fully committed to the club throughout her career, amassing 250 appearances and netting 50 goals since her debut. The 28-year-old midfielder has had an illustrious career at PSG, including two runner-up finishes in the Women’s Champions League, one top-flight title, and three French Cups. She has also earned 103 caps for the French national team, contributing significantly during the Euro 2025 tournament by scoring twice and helping France reach the quarter-finals.
London City Lionesses Strengthen Squad
The London City Lionesses have been proactive in enhancing their squad ahead of the new season. In addition to Geyoro, they have secured several high-profile signings, including Jana Fernandez from Barcelona, Danielle van de Donk from Lyon, former Manchester United captain Katie Zelem, and Nikita Parris, a forward with 74 caps for England. These acquisitions indicate the club’s ambition as they prepare to compete in the Women’s Super League (WSL).
The WSL is set for a significant boost this season, with Sky Sports expanding its coverage to include 118 matches, more than tripling the previous total of 78 fixtures. This enhanced partnership with the WSL will feature a new flagship program dedicated to Sunday lunchtime matches, offering a comprehensive build-up with the latest news and behind-the-scenes content starting at 11:00 AM.
Fans will benefit from improved access through the Sky Sports app, which provides vertical video highlights and live match statistics available for free. Additionally, free-to-watch highlights from every WSL game will continue to be available on the Sky Sports website and app.
As the season approaches, the Lionesses’ bold moves in the transfer market signal their intent to compete at the highest level and enhance the profile of women’s football in the UK and beyond.
