Mikey Lewis Signs Five-Year Deal, Dismisses NRL Speculation

Hull KR star Mikey Lewis has officially ended speculation regarding a move to the National Rugby League (NRL) by signing a new five-year contract with the club, extending his stay until 2030. The 24-year-old halfback, who earned the prestigious Man of Steel award for 2024, has been a pivotal player for the Rovers, contributing to their success in reaching last season’s Super League Grand Final, where they fell to the Wigan Warriors.
In 2025, Hull KR secured both the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders’ Shield, solidifying their position as a competitive force in the league. Lewis’s commitment to the club is seen as a significant boost for Hull KR, as they aim to build on their recent achievements.
Lewis Reflects on His Journey
Expressing his gratitude, Lewis stated, “It’s a massive honour. This place feels like home for me. The way I’ve seen this club change since the day I started my first pre-season in 2018 feels like a long time ago.” He highlighted the transformation within the club and his desire to continue being part of that journey, emphasizing the connection he feels with the community: “I feel like the east side of Hull have really brought me in as one of their own. The city and the club mean everything to me.”
Lewis has set ambitious goals for his time at Hull KR. “I want to create my own legacy here and win trophies with the team I’ve got around me. I don’t see why we can’t do that,” he remarked. He aims to compete for titles consistently, ensuring he gives his all on the field.
Coaching Staff Praise Lewis’s Commitment
Hull KR head coach Willie Peters remarked on the importance of Lewis’s contract extension, stating, “It’s a significant signing not just for Hull KR but for the Super League and the game in the UK.” He emphasized the necessity for clubs to retain their emerging talents, particularly in light of the NRL’s expansion. Peters noted that Lewis’s decision reflects his personal growth and maturity, especially considering his responsibilities as a father: “Mikey has finalized this deal on the back of looking at everything in his life; it’s not only about him now but about his little boy.”
As Hull KR looks to build on their recent successes, Mikey Lewis’s commitment represents a hopeful outlook for the club’s future in the Super League. With the support of fans and a dedicated coaching staff, Lewis is poised to make a lasting impact over the next five years.
