Leinster Rugby announced that coaches Jacques Nienaber, Tyler Bleyendaal, and Robin McBryde have signed contract extensions that will keep them with the club until the end of the 2026/27 season. The news was confirmed by Leo Cullen, Leinster’s Head Coach, who emphasized the importance of their contributions to the team.

Cullen highlighted the valuable experiences and diverse perspectives Nienaber, Bleyendaal, and McBryde bring to Leinster’s coaching staff. He stated, “They have all brought tons of relevant experience and a different perspective to how we do things and I think that’s hugely important for the development of our group.” This collaboration extends beyond the senior team, positively influencing academy players and engaging with local schools and clubs.

Coaching Adjustments Enhance Team Structure

In a move to strengthen the coaching framework, a new role has been created for a Provincial Kicking Coach. Former Leinster outhalf and Current Lead Performance Analyst Emmet Farrell will take on this position. Cullen confirmed that Farrell will continue his duties as Kicking Coach for the senior squad while Brian Colclough steps into the Lead Performance Analyst role. Colclough has been with Leinster since the 2016/17 season and has prior experience with the Samoan national team during the last Rugby World Cup.

Cullen expressed his enthusiasm for Farrell’s promotion, noting his significant contributions to the club over more than two decades. “I am also delighted for Emmet, someone who has been a key part of the success of this club on and off the field for more than 20 years,” Cullen remarked. This restructuring aims for consistency and alignment between UCD and the club’s development pathways.

The new role for Farrell allows for upward mobility within the coaching staff, including Juliette Fortune, who will assume a more senior position within the analysis team. Cullen praised their progress, stating, “They both started with us as interns, and it’s brilliant to see them continue their professional journey with us at Leinster.”

These changes reflect Leinster’s commitment to fostering talent and enhancing the performance of both players and coaches as they prepare for upcoming challenges in the rugby landscape.
