Yarmouth Hosts Thrilling Return of the Racing League on Thursday

The Racing League makes its much-anticipated return at Yarmouth on Thursday, showcasing an exciting lineup of races live on Sky Sports Racing. This event marks the beginning of the 2025 season, promising a day filled with competitive action for horse racing enthusiasts.
Featured Race at Yarmouth: Rathgar, Claymore, and Epictetus
The highlight of the opening night at Yarmouth is a highly competitive race featuring Rathgar, Claymore, and Epictetus, among a total of 13 runners. Rathgar, who is competing just one pound higher than his winning weight from last year, is poised to perform well for his connections from London and The South. Trained by Jack Channon, the five-year-old looks set to be a strong contender.
Competing against him, Claymore arrives fresh off a victory in a handicap at Newmarket earlier this month, running under a four-pound penalty. In addition, top-weight Epictetus, trained by Jamie and Saffie Osborne, is seeking to regain his winning form after a solid fifth-place finish at Newbury. Previously successful in Group Three races, he is expected to be competitive as he steps up in distance.
Exciting Novice Stakes at Doncaster
The action continues at Doncaster with the Darley EBF Novice Stakes, where the talented colt Stem is expected to shine. Trained by Richard Hannon, Stem made a significant impression last September when he won a novice race at Newbury on heavy ground. He will compete over a mile and a half, with Sean Levey in the saddle, aiming for an entry into the prestigious St Leger.
Challenging Stem will be The Cursor, who has yet to secure a victory in four outings. Despite this, his second-place finish at Doncaster in March looks strong, and he remains a popular choice among fans. Another contender, Arabian Poet, a half-brother to notable horses Japan and Mogul, is still searching for his first significant performance.
Worcester: Heroique De Maulde Faces Fever Dream
At Worcester, the Land O Plums Hirons 50th Anniversary Handicap Chase features a clash between Heroique De Maulde and Fever Dream. Heroique De Maulde recently achieved his fifth victory over fences at Bangor in June and looks to maintain momentum despite racing at a career-high mark. Fever Dream, who recently secured a win at Worcester, is also expected to show improvement.
Other noteworthy competitors include Deep Purple and My Gift To You, both of whom could pose a challenge in the race.
In addition to these highlights, Doncaster will feature a two-year-old contest with promising entries, including Senorita Vega. The card also includes valuable novice races with intriguing pedigrees, such as Allegresse, a relation to high-class stayer Eldar Eldarov.
As the day unfolds, horse racing enthusiasts can look forward to thrilling contests that set the stage for an exciting season ahead. The Racing League’s return is poised to capture the attention of fans and participants alike, with each race promising its own unique drama and excitement.
