80-Year-Old Man Dies in Fatal Galway Road Collision
UPDATE: An 80-year-old man has tragically died following a road collision in County Galway late last night. Authorities are urgently appealing for witnesses in the wake of this fatal incident.
The collision occurred on the N83 at Peake on the Tuam Road shortly after 11:30 PM. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where it was confirmed that a car struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a statement from the Garda Press Office, the driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to the hospital for assessment but his injuries are not considered life-threatening. The road remains closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the area, with traffic diversions currently in place.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact us,” stated a Garda spokesperson.
Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from any road users who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the incident.
