Annual Festival of Light Set to Illuminate Kilkenny on Dec 7
UPDATE: The highly anticipated Annual Festival of Light is confirmed to take place in County Kilkenny on Sunday, December 7, promising a day filled with excitement and community spirit.
Children will gather at the church car park starting at 3:00 PM, where they will be entertained by popular local DJ Michael Glendon. Following the festivities, a dazzling parade of light will commence, led by local figure Adam McCarthy, making its way to the town Square.
As part of this heartfelt event, Fr Eamonn O’Gorman will bless rosettes in memory of parishioners who have passed away this year. These will be placed on the Remembrance Tree, a poignant moment for the community. The ceremony will culminate in the much-anticipated switching on of the village lights, creating a magical atmosphere.
Music will continue to fill the Square as DJ Tracey Edwards takes over, ensuring that the festive spirit remains high. After the lighting ceremony, children will have the chance to meet Santa Claus at St Mary’s Hall, where attendees are encouraged to bring donations for Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
This annual celebration not only lights up the town but also fosters a sense of unity and remembrance within the community. Residents and visitors alike are urged to participate in this festive occasion, making it a memorable day for all.
Don’t miss out! Mark your calendars for December 7 and join in the celebrations that bring the community together during this joyous time of year.
