BREAKING: Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims Lives in County Louth
UPDATE: Multiple fatalities have been confirmed following a devastating multi-vehicle crash in County Louth, Ireland. The incident occurred shortly after 9 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, on the Ardee Road in Dundalk, with authorities responding to the scene immediately.
According to a spokesperson from Gardai, the collision involved two vehicles and resulted in a tragic loss of life. The authorities have not yet released specific details about the deceased. The vehicles, along with the bodies, remain at the scene while a thorough investigation is underway.
A number of individuals have been transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for medical assessment and treatment. The condition of those injured has not been disclosed.
Motorists are advised that the L3168 road is currently closed between the N52 and R171 as Gardai Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination. Local traffic diversions are in place to manage the situation.
Gardai have launched a full investigation into the collision and are urgently appealing to witnesses. They are particularly interested in any road users who may have dash-cam footage or other recordings from the L3168 Ardee Road area between 8:30 PM and 9:15 PM on Saturday.
