Danielle Galligan Shines in New Netflix Series House of Guinness

Danielle Galligan is making waves in the entertainment industry with her compelling performances in both television and film. Her latest role as Lady Olivia Hedges-White in the Netflix series House of Guinness showcases her talent in a historical drama created by Steven Knight, known for the acclaimed series Peaky Blinders. The show, which explores the real-life story of the Guinness family, highlights the struggles of Arthur Guinness, played by Anthony Boyle, who must hide his sexuality to protect the family’s legacy.
In this gripping narrative, Lady Olivia stands by Arthur as a supportive friend while navigating the complexities of their arrangement. Galligan, a 32-year-old Irish actress and poet, brings depth to her character, contributing to the series’ rising popularity on the streaming platform.
Early Career and Breakthrough Roles
Galligan’s journey in the entertainment world began on stage before transitioning to screen. She co-wrote and starred in the short film Strangers in the Park and made her television debut in 2019 with guest appearances in Game of Thrones and Krypton. Her breakthrough came with the role of Nina Zenik in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone, where she initially appeared as a recurring character in the first season before being promoted to a main cast member.
In addition to her work in fantasy series, Galligan showcased her versatility on the crime drama Kin, portraying Molly, a potential romantic interest for Michael Kinsella, played by Charlie Cox. After a successful first season, she became a main character in the second season, further solidifying her status in the industry.
Recent Projects and Future Endeavors
In 2023, Galligan took on the role of Mallory Markum in the dark comedy series Obituary, alongside Siobhán Cullen. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, reflecting her growing recognition in the field.
Her film career also began to flourish, with her feature film debut in Who We Love, a remake of the 2016 short film Lily. She later starred in Lakelands, sharing the screen with Éanna Hardwicke. Their performances were celebrated at the Galway Film Fleadh, where they both received the Bingham Ray New Talent Award.
Following her success in House of Guinness, Galligan is set to appear in a new series titled The Walsh Sisters, based on the works of Marian Keyes. This highly anticipated show premiered on RTÉ One in late September, showcasing her continued evolution as an actress in the competitive landscape of television.
As Galligan’s career progresses, her impressive body of work continues to captivate audiences, establishing her as a notable talent in the industry. With her performances spanning various genres, she is poised to make an even greater impact in the coming years.
