Donegal Artist Launches Urgent Projections Highlighting Gaza Crisis

UPDATE: A Donegal-based artist is urgently drawing attention to the ongoing crisis in Gaza with powerful projected images on public buildings. Ciarán Dunlevy, known for his impactful murals, is using the walls of iconic structures to project stark visuals that contrast the suffering in Gaza with familiar scenes from the West.
Dunlevy’s latest projections, including a haunting image of a Palestinian woman holding a child in a plastic bag, aim to invoke a visceral response from viewers. He recently illuminated the Old Courthouse in Letterkenny with these striking visuals, revealing the dire humanitarian situation in real time.
“My inspiration came in a dream where I saw politicians enjoying lavish meals while bombings raged outside,” Dunlevy shared. The artist emphasizes that current events mirror those of the past, stating, “If the Irish people realize it wasn’t just rotten potatoes that caused the famine, they might see the parallels with Palestine today.”
Dunlevy first gained attention during the Ukraine-Russia war, when he created a mural in Letterkenny to express solidarity. Now, he is turning his focus to Palestine, with projections designed to provoke thought and action. “I’m not just an artist anymore. I can no longer stand by without taking action,” he insists.
He is currently fundraising to enhance his projection capabilities, aiming to collaborate with animators and video editors for more extensive displays. Dunlevy believes that raising awareness is crucial: “While we can, it’s vital for people to use their voices, social media, and attend events to put pressure on the Irish government to take a stand.”
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, Dunlevy’s work is a reminder of the human impact of conflict and the urgent need for global awareness. His projections act as a call to action, encouraging viewers to engage with the ongoing crisis and advocate for those suffering.
Keep an eye on Dunlevy’s developments as he expands his project to reach even more audiences. His evocative art aims not only to inform but to inspire tangible change in the face of adversity.
For those interested in supporting this urgent cause, details on fundraising initiatives will be shared across social media platforms.
