Awarded establishments include the renowned Chandpur Indian Restaurant and Quay West in Donegal Town, along with Benny & Co in Ballybofey, Maddens Bridge Bar & Restaurant in Bundoran, The Restaurant at Harvey’s Point, and Zita’s at Caisleáin Óir Hotel. Notably, Benny & Co achieved its eighth consecutive award, highlighting its consistent excellence.
The announcement, made on October 2, 2023, marks a significant milestone for these establishments, further establishing Donegal as a culinary hotspot. A spokesperson for Chandpur expressed their gratitude on social media, stating, “Just delighted to receive this wonderful Award from the prestigious food critic Lucinda O’Sullivan today. Our wonderful team are very humbled by this great recognition.”
Lucinda O’Sullivan is recognized as Ireland’s leading food and hospitality critic, with her guide serving as a trusted resource for discerning diners. Meanwhile, additional Donegal venues have also secured awards from the esteemed McKennas’ Guides, known for spotlighting the best independent food businesses in Ireland. Though the McKennas do not publish a list of awardees, Benny & Co confirmed their accolade via social media, stating, “Delighted and honoured to be included for the 8th year in a row in @mckennasguides and @lucindasireland guides.
