Dublin Portal Expands to Ipswich, Uniting Cultures in Real-Time
URGENT UPDATE: The innovative Dublin Portal has just expanded its reach, now connecting with the town of Ipswich in the United Kingdom. The announcement came from Dublin City Council via social media, revealing that this landmark portal has officially landed in Cornhill, the heart of Ipswich.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, expressed his excitement, stating:
“I’m delighted that we’re the first place in the UK to welcome this innovative sculpture, which has been hugely successful elsewhere.”
He emphasized the portal’s role in uniting communities, allowing Ipswich residents to connect with cultures worldwide without leaving home. “We can’t wait to see everyone,” he added, highlighting the portal’s potential for fostering global connections.
This latest installation marks the fourth international destination linked to Dublin in real-time, joining Vilnius in Lithuania, Lublin in Poland, and Philadelphia in the United States. The expansion of the Dublin Portal is a significant step in promoting cultural exchange and understanding across borders.
Benediktas Gylys, founder of Portals Organization, shared his vision, stating:
“Each city that joins portals by launching their own sculpture brings its own history, culture, and energy to the family.”
He further noted that Ipswich’s rich heritage adds a unique flavor to this global initiative, stating that only through collaboration can we build a united planet.
Looking ahead, Gylys confirmed that additional portals are set to launch in South America, starting with the unveiling in the Brazilian state of Piauí. This ambitious project aims to connect cities worldwide, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.
Dublin City Council is encouraging the people of Ipswich to “wave hello” to their counterparts in Dublin, where the portal is prominently located on Earl Street. The excitement is palpable, as Ipswich prepares to welcome visitors from around the globe through this innovative connection.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Dublin Portal continues to redefine global connectivity and cultural exchange. This is a moment not just for Ipswich, but for communities everywhere, as we embrace the opportunities that technology and art offer to unite us all.
