First Presidential Debate Airs Tonight – Don’t Miss It at 10 PM!

UPDATE: The first televised presidential election debate for the 2025 election is set to air LIVE tonight, September 25, 2023, at 10 PM on Virgin Media One. All three confirmed candidates will be present in what promises to be an intense showdown ahead of the crucial October election.
In an unprecedented format, the debate will feature Independent candidate Catherine Connolly, backed by Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil candidate Jim Gavin, and Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys seated together, moving away from the traditional podium setup. This historic change reflects the unique dynamics of this election cycle, as only three candidates are vying for the presidency, compared to six in 2018 and seven in 2011.
The stakes are high as candidates prepare to make their cases to potential voters. Host Kieran Cuddihy will engage the candidates in a direct format, aiming to uncover their plans and visions for the future. This debate marks a critical moment in the campaign, with the presidential election scheduled for October 24, 2023.
In addition to the debate, each candidate will participate in a special 30-minute interview segment called the “Big Interview” with Virgin Media News presenter Colette Fitzpatrick. Gavin will kick off the series on October 6, followed by Connolly on October 13, and Humphreys on October 20—just days before voters head to the polls.
As anticipation builds, this debate is not just a platform for candidates; it’s a pivotal event that could shape the future of the nation. Be sure to tune in and witness the critical discussions that will unfold tonight at 10 PM!
