Flooding Hits Wales: Cars Submerged, Yellow Warning Issued

URGENT UPDATE: Flooding has rapidly engulfed parts of Wales, with dramatic footage showing cars completely submerged under water. A series of flood warnings have been issued as the Met Office announces a yellow weather warning for the entire region, effective from 8pm on October 29, 2023, until 6pm on October 30, 2023.
Footage from the flooded Cwmbwrla roundabout in Swansea reveals vehicles struggling to navigate the rising waters, prompting emergency closures of several roads. Strong winds peaking at 70 mph have added to the chaos as stormy conditions sweep across the country. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes as floodwaters render major roads impassable.
Emergency crews are actively responding, wading through waist-deep water in high-visibility gear and deploying inflatable dinghies to aid stranded individuals. South Wales Police have confirmed that the Cwmbwrla roundabout is fully closed and will remain so for an extended period. Traffic has been diverted via Pentregethin Road due to significant flooding on Goetre Fawr Road, Killay, which is also closed.
Natural Resources Wales has issued three flood warnings as the region braces for torrential downpours and potential power outages. Meteorologist Tom Morgan stated, “Despite low impacts in general, we could see brief power interruptions and significant travel disruptions for those returning to work on Monday morning.”
The weather is expected to worsen as gusty winds and heavy showers continue, especially across west Wales and North West England, where severe gales could develop. Authorities urge the public to secure outdoor items and prepare for challenging conditions as autumn storms take hold.
As residents navigate the aftermath of the flooding, many are sharing their experiences on social media, highlighting the immediate human impact of the weather crisis. With the situation evolving rapidly, officials continue to monitor conditions closely.
Stay tuned for further updates as the storm develops and travel advisories are reinforced.
