URGENT UPDATE: Former CBS Kilkenny Guidance Councillor, Lucy Ryan, has been honored with a prestigious national award at the Gaisce PAL Celebration held at Dublin Castle. This recognition comes as part of a special conference dedicated to President’s Award Leaders (PALs) across Ireland, celebrating their immense commitment to guiding young people in their Gaisce Award journeys.
Lucy Ryan, a dedicated volunteer with the Kilkenny Volunteer Centre, received the esteemed Réalta Award for an impressive 15 years of service. Her unwavering support has made a significant impact on the lives of countless young individuals participating in the Gaisce program.
The PALCON event recognized a total of 111 committed PALs from diverse organizations, including post-primary schools, youth organizations, and services for youth justice and disability. Awards were presented based on years of service, with the Laoch Award for five years, Seaimpín Award for ten years, and the Réalta Award for fifteen years.
Last June, CBS Kilkenny bid farewell to Lucy after an incredible 34 years of service. A spokesperson for the school expressed gratitude for her “enormous contribution” to the educational community, highlighting her role in shaping the lives of students.
This recognition not only honors Lucy Ryan but also emphasizes the vital role of volunteers in fostering youth development across Ireland. As the Gaisce program continues to grow, the contributions of leaders like Ryan remain essential to its success.
