Fugitive Gang Boss Hides in UK, Fears Family Threats Amid Debt
URGENT UPDATE: A notorious gang boss is reportedly hiding in the UK after escaping from Kilkenny Garda Station on September 22, 2023. Sources reveal he cannot surrender until he settles a debt with a rival gangster, who has allegedly threatened his family.
The fugitive, known as one of the largest cocaine dealers in southeastern Ireland, fled using a false passport just over a week ago. Officials confirm that he has been in contact with a senior garda through his solicitor, seeking to negotiate his return but insisting on clearing his financial obligations first.
A senior source disclosed to Extra.ie: “
While there has been no sign of the criminal, his solicitor has been in contact with senior gardai to try to organise him handing himself back in. This obviously hasn’t happened yet.
” Authorities believe he is working to gather funds to pay off the debt, motivated by the need to protect both himself and his family.
Searches for the fugitive intensified this week as authorities reviewed airport CCTV footage, but no trace was found. There are suspicions that he may possess travel documents under multiple identities, complicating the investigation.
The gang boss was arrested on September 18 and was being questioned over applying for a passport in someone else’s name. Following his escape, gardai conducted operations at several locations in an effort to locate him, including searches of residential properties in Co. Kilkenny.
Despite the ongoing search, police remain confident he will resurface. A source stated, “Gardai are satisfied the prisoner will ‘resurface again eventually.'” As part of their investigation, a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of aiding the gang boss’s escape. The individual was reportedly seen collecting the fugitive from the scene in a red VW Golf, which was captured on CCTV and is now undergoing forensic examination.
The man has since been released without charge, but a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Gadrai are questioning how he was aware of the exact moment to assist the fugitive, as he is not known to authorities but resides near the gang boss’s home.
Gardai continue to investigate the escape, collaborating with national and regional agencies. They urge anyone with information to assist in locating the fugitive to contact Kilkenny Garda Station at 056 777 5000 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
As the situation develops, the urgency surrounding this case grows, highlighting the dangers posed by organized crime and the lengths individuals will go to evade justice. Stay tuned for further updates on this breaking story.
