GAA Weekend: Thrilling Finals, Dramatic Replays & Showdowns

UPDATE: The weekend of GAA club action brought explosive finishes and historic victories across Ireland. Key highlights include Antrim Loughgiel Shamrocks set to face St John’s in the Antrim SHC Final after a thrilling weekend that saw Ryan McMullan secure a nail-biting win with a last-minute score of 3-20 to 2-22 against Dunloy. Meanwhile, Conor Johnston led St John’s to their first final since 1994 with a 1-26 to 1-22 victory over Cushendall.
In Carlow, Old Leighlin edged past Palatine with a score of 3-10 to 0-17 to secure their spot in the Carlow SFC Final. A tense semi-final between Bagenalstown Gaels and Rathvilly ended in a draw at 1-11 to 0-14, setting the stage for a replay next Sunday at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Moving to Cork, the excitement continued as Midleton and Sarsfields prepare for a repeat of last year’s Cork SHC Final. Midleton triumphed over Blackrock after extra-time, finishing 0-29 to 1-25, while Sarsfields edged St Finbarr’s with a score of 1-22 to 2-18.
In Derry, Slaughtneil claimed the Derry SHC title, defeating Kevin Lynch’s. Meanwhile, both Kilcoo and Carryduff advanced to the Down SFC Final, with Kilcoo overcoming Clonduff by 1-15 to 0-17 thanks to a late point from Ceilum Doherty.
The Dublin SFC semi-finals delivered high drama, with results expected to shake up the capital. In Fermanagh, Erne Gaels narrowly beat Ederney 2-12 to 2-11, while Derrygonnelly Harps cruised to victory over Teemore with a decisive 3-16 to 0-8 win.
In Galway, thrilling action unfolded in the SHC quarter-finals. Holders Loughrea produced an incredible comeback against Clarinbridge, while St Thomas’ secured their place with a last-minute goal from Victor Manso to edge out Tommy Larkins.
As Kerry moves to the quarter-finals stage, Mid Kerry will face Spa, while Kenmare Shamrocks take on Austin Stacks. The competition heats up as Dingle prepares to meet West Kerry, with the return of Tom O’Sullivan adding to the excitement.
In Meath, Athy clinched a narrow win over Sarsfields with a score of 2-14 to 2-13, while Naas shined with a dominant performance, defeating Celbridge 1-20 to 0-13.
