Galway Lecturer Sophie Sweeney to Represent Ireland at One Young World
UPDATE: Galway’s own Sophie Sweeney has been officially named to represent Ireland at the prestigious One Young World Summit in Munich, Germany. This exciting announcement comes after Chartered Accountants Ireland recognized her as the 2025 Chartered Star for her exceptional dedication to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Sweeney, a lecturer in accountancy, finance, and tax at the University of Galway, is set to engage with global leaders and change-makers at the summit, which is scheduled for October 18-21, 2023. She is also pursuing a PhD focused on how individuals perceive tax throughout different life stages, showcasing her commitment to impactful research.
