Galway Residents Urged to Stay Safe Amid High Tide Warning

URGENT UPDATE: The public in Galway is being urgently advised to exercise caution as a High Tide Advisory Warning is now in effect and will last until 11 PM Thursday. Met Éireann has confirmed that the highest astronomical tide levels are expected to approach or exceed normal levels along all coasts, creating a serious risk for coastal communities.
Authorities are warning that a combination of forecasted storm surge, tidal predictions, and wave action will significantly impact coastal areas. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and avoid risky areas near the shoreline, particularly in places known for strong wave activity.
In a statement, Galway City Council emphasized the importance of safety, urging individuals to take extra care when near coastal locations due to a heightened risk of wave overtopping. Motorists parking near these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution, as conditions may rapidly change.
Access to the Toft Car Park in Salthill is restricted during this high tide period, with officials recommending alternative parking locations. The council is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
As the high tide approaches, locals are reminded to stay informed and share this advisory with others. The safety of residents and visitors is the top priority as Galway braces for these potentially hazardous conditions.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
