Galway Seeks Public Feedback on New Buskers Code of Conduct
URGENT UPDATE: Galway City Council is calling on residents to provide immediate feedback on the newly trialed Buskers Code of Conduct. This initiative is crucial as it aims to regulate busking activities in the city, ensuring a harmonious environment for performers and the public alike.
The trial, conducted over the summer, introduced specific guidelines including performance start and end times, maximum performance durations, crowd management protocols, and sound level restrictions. These regulations were developed by the Galway Buskers Community to address the needs and responsibilities of buskers while enhancing the overall experience for audiences and local businesses.
Officials have opened a public consultation period to gather insights from not only the general public but also buskers and local enterprises. Feedback can be submitted through an online survey available at GalwayCity.ie until October 7, 2023. This is a vital opportunity for community members to influence local policies that directly affect street performance and cultural vibrancy.
After the survey closes, Galway City Council will compile the feedback into a report for the Strategic Policy Committee on Tourism. This report may lead to amendments in the existing Galway City Busking Byelaws, which will then be reviewed by City Councillors.
Community engagement is essential in this process, as the feedback will shape how busking is managed in Galway going forward. Residents are urged to make their voices heard and contribute to a balanced approach that respects both artistic expression and public comfort.
Don’t miss your chance to impact this cultural dialogue—share your thoughts today!
