Gardaí Arrest Man in Kilkenny After Public’s Heroic Actions
UPDATE: A man has been arrested in Kilkenny City following a heroic intervention by bystanders who witnessed an assault last night. Gardaí reported that their Regional Patrol Unit (RPU) was alerted by a member of the public after completing a routine checkpoint.
The incident unfolded around 11:30 PM when a couple flagged down officers, explaining they had seen an assault nearby. The woman quickly pointed out the suspect, while her partner rushed to the police station with two individuals who had allegedly been attacked.
Gardaí swiftly apprehended an intoxicated male at the scene. After taking statements from witnesses, the suspect was charged with two counts of assault and two public order offenses. He is set to appear in Kilkenny District Court in the coming days.
