Gardaí Investigate Vehicle Thefts in Limerick City
Incidents of theft from vehicles in Limerick city have prompted an investigation by local police. On the night of September 19 to September 20, 2023, a tradesman’s van parked at Potato Market, Merchant’s Quay, was targeted and tools were stolen.
According to Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, the Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station, the theft of tools represents a significant loss for the tradesman affected. She stated, “Overnight between Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th of September, a tradesman’s van was targeted at Potato Market, Merchant’s Quay, and tools were stolen.”
The following afternoon, at approximately 15:50, another theft occurred. A car parked at Clancy Strand had its window smashed, resulting in the theft of a laptop and various other items. This incident further underscores the ongoing issue of vehicle break-ins in the area.
Sgt. O’Halloran confirmed that both incidents are currently under investigation by the Gardaí at Henry Street. She urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to assist in preventing further thefts.
As the investigation continues, local residents and vehicle owners are reminded to take precautions to secure their belongings and report any thefts or suspicious activities to the authorities. The Gardaí encourage community involvement in maintaining safety and security in Limerick city.
