Gardaí Urge Caution Amid Electric Picnic Ticket Fraud Alerts

URGENT UPDATE: Gardaí are investigating alarming reports of fraudulent resales of tickets for the highly anticipated Electric Picnic festival, which is set to take place in Stradbally, Co Laois, from September 1-3, 2025. As the sold-out event approaches, authorities are warning festival-goers to be vigilant against potential scams.
Officials have confirmed that many individuals have fallen victim to third-party sales, leading to significant financial losses. “It is important that people exert a great degree of caution if attempting to purchase tickets for a sold-out event through any third party, known or otherwise,” a Garda press officer stated.
The warning comes as reports of fraudulent ticket sales have surged. Authorities emphasize that tickets bought from unauthorized sellers are unlikely to be valid. “Do not trust that the tickets you believe you are purchasing are real. It is likely that they will not materialize and, in fact, do not exist,” the spokesperson added.
Gardaí are urging individuals to avoid sending money through any application in advance, as this increases the risk of falling prey to scams. Anyone who suspects they may have been a victim of online fraud is encouraged to report the incident to Gardaí immediately.
This alert serves as a critical reminder for festival enthusiasts to prioritize safety and verify the legitimacy of ticket vendors. With just days left before the festival, it is essential to remain cautious and informed.
As the situation develops, attendees are advised to secure their tickets from official sources only. Stay tuned for more updates as Gardaí continue their investigation into this fraudulent activity.
