Graignamanagh’s Town of Books Festival Kicks Off This Weekend!

URGENT UPDATE: The charming town of Graignamanagh is set to transform into a booklover’s paradise this weekend as it prepares for the highly anticipated 22nd Town of Books Festival, running from August 22-24. With its picturesque setting along the River Barrow, this festival promises to be a cultural highlight for locals and visitors alike.
Festival organizers are excited to announce that Blacknight will return as the main sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to stories and knowledge. The three-day event will draw an impressive array of booksellers, authors, and literary enthusiasts from around the globe, including attendees from Seattle, Washington DC, and South Africa.
The festivities kick off with a launch and drinks reception at 7 PM on Friday, followed by a special event at 8 PM featuring local TV personality Edward Hayden. He will host a conversation with distinguished guests Pat Marry, a retired detective known for solving serious crimes, and Beau Donnelly, an award-winning journalist and co-author of the bestselling book about the Netflix documentary, “The Woman Who Fooled the World.”
This year’s festival offers an array of activities, including a vibrant food and craft market at Abbey Hall, live music, and family-friendly events. The festival will also showcase an exhibition titled A Vintage Yarn, featuring collections from Cushendale Woollen Mills and renowned vintage curator Naomi Fitzgibbon.
Additionally, Creative Kilkenny supports the festival’s Plein Air initiative, featuring 70 artists painting outdoors throughout the weekend. Their works will be displayed, and attendees can participate in voting for the People’s Choice Award on Sunday evening. The top prize, valued at €500, is generously sponsored by Blacknight, encouraging even more engagement.
