Inis Oírr and Loughrea Schools Win National Science Film Awards
BREAKING: Schools from Inis Oírr and Loughrea have achieved remarkable success at the ReelLIFE Science Awards, showcasing the incredible talents of young filmmakers. The prestigious event took place at the University of Galway, where students presented captivating science videos that earned them top honors.
This year, over 200 short science films were submitted by 1,800 young participants from 86 schools and youth groups, reflecting a nationwide enthusiasm for science and creativity. Notably, Gaelscoil Riabhach from Loughrea was awarded for their insightful video titled “An Fharraigh Dhomhain” – The Deep Sea, while Coláiste Ghobnait earned accolades for their film “Céard is cúis le ailléirgí?”, which explores the causes of allergies.
The awards recognize not only the hard work of these students but also the dedication of their teachers and mentors. Eddie Sweeney and Brooklyn Conroy from Ballybane Foróige also celebrated a commendable third place finish in the Youth Organisation category, highlighting the collaborative effort of youth in science education.
