Interior Designer Sarah Louise Dunne Reveals Home Secrets Now
UPDATE: Interior designer Sarah Louise Dunne is set to share her design insights at the Ideal Home Show happening from October 17-19 in Dublin. Known for her unique blend of beauty and functionality, Dunne will present alongside fellow designers Carla Benedetti and colour consultant Jane Witter at the Dulux Heritage Interior Design Hub.
Dunne’s personal living space reflects her design philosophy. One standout piece is a vintage armchair she reupholstered in soft sage green velvet, which she describes as having “just the right amount of character.” This personal touch highlights her commitment to creating beautiful, functional environments.
Attendees at the Ideal Home Show can expect Dunne to discuss the shift to warm and organic tones in modern interiors. “There is a definite move towards well-rooted colours that evoke feelings of calm and balance,” Witter states, emphasizing a global trend in design.
Dunne’s journey into interior design was spurred by her own home renovation, a transformative experience that led her to pivot from a career in education. “I realized my passion for interiors was something I needed to explore properly,” she shared. This revelation has resulted in her establishing a successful design studio and retail store in Dundrum Town Centre.
As a mother of four, Dunne faces the challenge of making her home suitable for varied tastes and styles. “I tailor my projects by selecting high-quality materials that feel luxurious yet are durable,” she explained. Dunne’s strategic use of colour enhances functionality, creating spaces that are not only elegant but practical for family life.
“I’ve used a warm, muted palette in my living room — soft taupe walls with deep navy accents — to create a serene environment for hosting and unwinding,” she said. Her approach demonstrates that luxury can coexist with livability.
With her own home continuously evolving, Dunne acknowledges there’s always more work to be done. “As an interior designer, it never stops; I am always planning the next project,” she remarked.
At the Ideal Home Show, Dunne and Benedetti will showcase contrasting design styles, promoting the idea that “less is more” while ensuring spaces feel lived-in rather than staged. Dunne’s top tip for aspiring homeowners? Incorporate items that reflect personal stories—unique decor, meaningful artwork, or beloved colours—to truly make a space one’s own.
This event promises not only to inspire design enthusiasts but also to foster connections among those passionate about creating beautiful and functional homes. Don’t miss the chance to gain insights from Dunne and other experts at the Ideal Home Show next weekend.
Stay tuned for more updates as the show approaches, and follow Dunne’s journey for the latest design trends and tips.
