Ireland Faces Washout Week Ahead as Met Eireann Warns of Heavy Rain

UPDATE: Ireland is bracing for a week of severe weather as Met Eireann has just announced widespread wet and windy conditions. Starting today, the nation can expect heavy showers and even isolated thunderstorms, particularly in Atlantic coastal counties.
Today will begin with a crisp, bright morning, but conditions will rapidly deteriorate. Showers will spread eastward throughout the afternoon, with rainfall becoming heavy in certain areas. Temperatures will range from 14 to 18 degrees Celsius, feeling fresher due to moderate southwest winds.
As night falls, cloud cover will increase, bringing bouts of rain and drizzle, which will intensify in the southwest. Temperatures are set to drop to between 8 to 12 degrees Celsius, with winds shifting to strong along the Atlantic coast.
Tomorrow, October 4, 2023, will kick off dull and breezy, with rain moving northeast. However, some areas may see a reprieve by early afternoon, with sunny spells and scattered showers replacing the gloom. Expect temperatures to reach between 14 to 17 degrees Celsius, and possibly up to 20 degrees Celsius in Munster.
The forecast for the following days is equally unsettling. On Wednesday, October 5, rain and drizzle will continue to push northeast, while scattered showers will become more common in Atlantic coastal counties. Highs will be a cool 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, with conditions feeling even chillier due to moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.
By Thursday, October 6, the pattern of scattered showers and sunny spells will persist, turning heavy at times, especially in western regions. The week will wrap up with another breezy day of sunny spells, but further wet and windy weather is forecasted to sweep in over the weekend.
Met Eireann warns that the weather will remain unsettled, impacting daily activities for many across the nation. Residents are advised to prepare for challenging conditions, especially those in coastal areas where winds could reach dangerous levels.
