Irish Fashion Designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra Found Dead at 33

Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, a talented Irish fashion designer, was discovered dead on a yacht in Long Island earlier this week. The 33-year-old was found unconscious at the Montauk Yacht Club during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, East Hampton Town Police pronounced her dead at the scene.
Originally from Carlow, Ireland, Ms. Nolan-O’Slatarra relocated to New York City in her mid-20s, seeking new opportunities. An alumnus of University College Dublin, she later earned a master’s degree in digital marketing from Smurfit Business School. Upon moving to the United States, she began her career as a sales representative for a fintech start-up, where she worked with prestigious hedge funds.
Martha’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish her own fashion brand, East x East, specializing in eyewear, swimwear, and resort wear. She also served as the director of operations at K4 Capital and ran an Amazon fashion brand named ‘Duper’.
In a previous interview with the Irish Independent, Martha reflected on her journey, stating, “I was the small-town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams.” Her determination to succeed was evident throughout her career.
Her sudden passing has drawn an outpouring of grief from friends and colleagues. Dylan Grace, her business partner at East x East, shared heartfelt tributes on social media. He posted several photos of their time together on Instagram, expressing gratitude for her impact on his life. “We dreamed big together, laughed harder than anyone else could understand, and built so much from nothing,” he wrote. “I’m truly blessed and grateful to have had you in my life. Love you so much, Mar. Fly high girl.”
Social media comments echoed the sentiment, with many praising Martha’s character. One user remarked, “She was such a beautiful person inside and out. She will be so so missed.” Others expressed shock and sorrow, with one friend stating, “I’m heartbroken and completely devastated.”
Martha’s last posts included a video celebrating a pop-up event at Gurney’s Resort in Montauk, captioned “Goals Achieved.” The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear and are currently under investigation by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
An update from the Suffolk County Police Department reported that a post-mortem examination “did not show evidence of violence,” indicating that further examination is necessary to determine the cause of death.
As the investigation continues, friends and family remember Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra for her vibrant spirit and entrepreneurial achievements, leaving a lasting legacy in the fashion industry.
