UPDATE: Irish radio star Kasey Campion has bravely addressed the abusive trolling she faces as she embarks on her new journey as a radio host on FM104. The 24-year-old’s show, Locked In with Kasey Campion, hit the airwaves this summer, and she is already making waves in the entertainment landscape.

Just days after her show began airing on weekdays from 7 PM to 10 PM, Kasey opened up about the challenges of online hate during an interview with The Irish Sun. She revealed, “You wouldn’t get it in every job,” highlighting the unique pressures that come with being in the public eye.

Kasey, who studied media and marketing at Maynooth University, has been working at FM104 since her teenage years, gradually moving from promotional roles to securing her own show. Her infectious enthusiasm for radio is evident as she shared, “It’s going really well. I’m getting loads of interaction… it’s really fun, I’m loving it.”

However, with her rising popularity on platforms like TikTok—where she boasts over 141,400 followers—comes an onslaught of negativity. Kasey candidly admitted to managing the hate by blocking out 99% of negative comments, emphasizing the need to protect her energy. She quoted pop star Taylor Swift, saying, “Act like your energy is valuable, like it costs something,” which has become her mantra.

In addition to dealing with trolls, Kasey has recently made headlines with her new romantic relationship, which she “hard launched” on social media. While acknowledging that her audience varies in age and can be overly invested, she remains optimistic, stating, “No rodents, all green flags… so far anyways.”

Looking to the future, Kasey expressed interest in transitioning to television, inspired by her mother’s long career at Virgin Media. She stated, “I feel like the natural progression is radio – TV,” and hinted at possibly competing on RTE’s Dancing With The Stars, saying, “It’s in my five-year plan,” despite joking about her lack of dancing skills.

Kasey is also excited about her nomination for the Rising InstaSTAR award at the upcoming Hayu Stellar InstaStar Awards, taking place on September 20 at the Anantara The Marker Hotel in Dublin. She remarked, “I’m happy because I only started focusing on Instagram this year,” after previously losing out at two other awards.

As Kasey Campion continues to navigate the highs and lows of her blossoming career, her story resonates with many who face similar challenges in the digital age. With her positive outlook and commitment to her craft, Kasey is set to become a prominent figure in Irish media.

Stay tuned for more updates on Kasey’s journey and the upcoming awards ceremony that promises to spotlight rising talents in the industry.
