Kilkenny Charity Urgently Seeks Halloween Costume Donations Now

UPDATE: The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation in Kilkenny is urgently calling for donations of Halloween costumes and decorations as families prepare for the spooky season. With Halloween just around the corner, local businesses are “screaming out” for pre-loved items that can support vital services for children with severe learning disabilities.
As the demand for sustainable practices rises, the charity encourages community members to “put the care into scare” by donating gently-used costumes and spooky décor to the Jack and Jill Charity Boutique. Store Manager Barry Dempsey expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Last year’s response was fang-tastic. This year we’re hoping for even more donations.”
Families can drop off items at the boutique, where they will be resold to support the charity’s mission of providing in-home nursing care and respite support to families across Ireland. Currently, the foundation is caring for 17 children in County Kilkenny, with a history of aiding 77 families since its inception in 1997.
Dempsey emphasized the importance of sustainability, noting that many costumes are worn only once before being discarded. “Instead of letting them gather dust, why not give them a second chance to scare here in Kilkenny?” he urged.
In addition to costumes, the Jack and Jill Boutique is also seeking donations of autumn and Halloween home décor. Items such as pumpkin wreaths and glitter skulls can help refresh local homes while contributing to the charity’s cause. Head of Retail Stacey Bohanna highlighted, “Halloween is the perfect time to embrace shopping sustainably. Every item donated or purchased directly helps us support local families.”
Donations are being accepted through Halloween and beyond, allowing the boutique to stock up on spooktacular items for next year. This initiative not only brings joy to families during Halloween but also fosters a sense of community support for local children in need.
As families begin to plan their Halloween festivities, the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation urges everyone to consider donating items that can make a significant difference. The campaign is a win-win: enjoy the holiday while helping those in the community.
