Kilkenny Gardaí Urge Residents: Stop ‘Borrowing’ Traffic Cones Now
URGENT UPDATE: An Garda Síochana has issued a warning to residents in the Butts area of Kilkenny City following a recent incident involving traffic cones. Just this Tuesday afternoon, members of the Roads Policing Unit encountered a resident claiming ownership of several traffic cones left on the street.
According to a post on social media from Kilkenny Gardaí, the resident insisted, “‘They’re my cones,'” prompting a swift response from law enforcement, who clarified, “‘Well actually they’re ours.'” The exchange highlights the ongoing issue of individuals taking or “borrowing” public property without permission.
Authorities are now urging locals to refrain from this practice, noting that attempting to take these cones could result in unwanted legal consequences. “As tempting as it is, we would ask people to refrain from ‘borrowing’ cones as technically you could end up a ‘guest’ of ours,” the post stated, concluding with a friendly but firm reminder, “Just a word to the wise!”
This incident underscores the importance of respecting public property and following local regulations. Residents are reminded that taking items such as traffic cones is not only illegal but can also jeopardize public safety.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story, and remember to share this warning with your neighbors to ensure everyone is aware!
