Limerick’s Thomond Mini Stages Rally Kicks Off This Weekend!

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Thomond Mini Stages Rally is set to launch in Rathkeale this weekend, marking a thrilling return for the Limerick Motor Club after almost 40 years. The event kicks off on Saturday, July 15, 2023, with the roar of rally cars echoing through the town as crews finalize their preparations.
The excitement begins Saturday afternoon with vital scrutineering checks and reconnaissance on the two challenging stages. However, the real action ignites Sunday morning with six competitive stages lined up for the 120 participating cars. This is the first rally of its kind since 1987, making it a significant event for both competitors and fans.
Leading the pack will be local duo Chris and Kirsty O’Callaghan, who will pilot their iconic Ford Escort Mark II marked with the number 1. They are joined by other local contenders eager to capture victory on their home turf, including notable entrants Ed Synan, Paul Purtill, Sean Moran, Johnny O’Connor, and Cathal Mulcaire.
The rally is proudly sponsored by GPR4 Fabrications, a Galway-based motor parts business, alongside support from local businesses such as Rathkeale House Hotel, Paul Purtill Agri, Morenane Transport, and Tyrestop Rathkeale. This influx of community support underscores the event’s significance in promoting local motorsport culture and camaraderie.
As excitement builds, rally enthusiasts and local residents are urged to come out and support the drivers. The impact of this event is expected to resonate throughout the community, bringing together fans and families for a weekend of high-speed action and local pride.
