Man in His 70s Dies in Early Morning House Fire in Clare

UPDATE: A tragic house fire claimed the life of a man in his 70s in Moymore, North Clare early this morning. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 3:30 AM and rushed to the scene, approximately 5 km from Lahinch.
Fire crews from the Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, alongside paramedics from the National Ambulance Service and local Gardaí, arrived promptly to combat the blaze. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities have confirmed that the local coroner has been notified, and the deceased’s body is set to be transferred to the University Hospital Limerick for further examination. A thorough technical investigation is scheduled for today to determine the cause of the fire, with Gardaí and fire personnel maintaining a presence at the site.
A Garda spokesperson stated, “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal house fire at a residence in Moymore, Co. Clare in the early hours of Wednesday, August 27, 2025. A male, aged in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The fire was extinguished by Clare County Fire Service. The scene is currently preserved pending a technical examination.”
