Munster Announces Starting XV for Urgent Clash with Leinster

URGENT UPDATE: Munster has just announced its starting lineup for the highly anticipated Women’s Interprovincial showdown against reigning champions Leinster, taking place at Energia Park on Saturday, 2:30 PM (live on TG4 YouTube). This clash is set to draw significant attention as both teams vie for supremacy in the tournament.
In a bold move, Munster has made three changes to the squad that triumphed over Connacht last weekend. Aoife Fleming steps in at hooker, replacing Saoirse Crowe, after an impressive debut performance off the bench. She will join Grainne Burke, another debutant, at loosehead, alongside the seasoned Eilis Cahill at tighthead.
The engine room remains intact with Aoibhe O’Flynn and Claire Bennett holding their positions. However, there is a notable adjustment in the back row as Clodagh O’Halloran returns to join captain Maeve Óg O’Leary and Chloe Pearse.
Continuing their successful partnership, Abbie Salter-Townshend and Caitriona Finn will take on the roles of scrum-half and out-half, respectively. The center duo remains unchanged with Steph Nunan and Alana McInerney bringing stability to the midfield. Making her first start is Orna Moynihan from Ennis, who joins last week’s hat-trick scorer Chisom Ugwueru and full-back Aoife Corey in the back three.
Among the replacements, the return of Deirbhile Nic a Bháird is particularly noteworthy, marking her first appearance since September 2023. She is joined by Ciara McLoughlin, Emma Dunican, Jane Clohessy, Lily Morris, Eve Prendergast, Lucia Linn, and Kate Flannery.
Assistant coach Niamh Briggs emphasized the challenge ahead, stating, “Away games offer a different challenge, especially for our younger group. Leinster play an exciting brand of rugby, and for us, it’s about mindset on Saturday.”
As fans gear up for this critical matchup, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Munster will aim to build on its recent success while facing off against a formidable Leinster side known for its dynamic play.
Stay tuned for live updates as the match progresses. This encounter is not just a game; it represents the spirit of competition and the drive for excellence in women’s rugby.
